Meet ERIKA Brown

Erika, the mother of two DHS students and an environmental professional, has proudly served on the Durango Board of Education since 2020. She has strengthened transparency and community connection, championed equity and sustainability, and fought for the funding our schools need so every student can thrive.

9-R Mission

The mission of Durango School District 9-R, an innovative educational system committed to excellence, is to ensure each student develops the skills and attributes for lifelong learning and has the ability to compete and contribute in the global community, by guaranteeing equitable educational opportunities in a safe healthy environment.

BOE Approved June 6, 2009

Our Platform: Leading 9r forward

We believe every child in 9-R deserves equitable opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed. That means creating safe, supportive schools where individual needs are met and students can thrive. The role of the School Board is to foster this success, and we are committed to making decisions that keep our kids at the center of every discussion.

Our public schools are the foundation of our community’s future. By focusing on the big picture, and not just the issue of the moment, we can prepare our students to face tomorrow’s challenges with confidence. Together, we will continue building a system that supports teachers, empowers students, and strengthens Durango’s future.
